Synopsis

Expect a quiet day for both districts. The stationary front which was sitting out in eastern Montana has finally pushed through western North Dakota this morning, resulting in strong northwest winds. These winds will persist throughout much of the day, and will bring cooler, dryer air to the region. Expect temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s and dewpoints in the mid 30s to lower 40s. Behind this front, an area of surface high pressure will sit over the region today. This, combined with the lack of moisture, will result in no significant weather for the entire forecast period.

Flash Flood Guidance (Click Image for 1hr, 3hr, & 6hr Graphics)

Upper-level ridge has begun to flatten out. However, given western North Dakota's position relative to the jet streak in the right front quadrant, expect sinking air helping to suppress convection.

Frontal passage can be visualized over western North Dakota, resulting in strong northwest winds this afternoon.

A broad area of surface high pressure will move into the region today, further helping to suppress convection.

Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s today.

Dewpoints across the region will be very low, given dry air flow out of the northwest. Note the high dewpoints ahead of the front in eastern North Dakota.
